Frequently
Asked Questions

What's a bidet?

What is a bidet, and where does the water come from?

A bidet washes your butt with water instead of leaving toilet paper to do a job it was never great at. With the turn of a knob or press of a button, a fresh stream of water cleans you off at the perfect angle. No smearing, no shredding, no TP mummy hand.

And let's clear up the number one worry right away: the water does not come from the toilet bowl. Ever. Every TUSHY connects to the same clean water supply that fills your toilet tank, the same water you brush your teeth with.

Here's how it hooks up:

Non-electric models (Classic, Fresh, Spa, Wave, Oasis) connect to your toilet's water supply with the adapter in the box. The included hose runs from the adapter to your bidet. The Spa and Oasis add one more hose to your sink's hot water line for warm washes. No electricity needed.

Electric bidet seats (Ace, Cloud, Cloud+, Aura) connect to the toilet's water supply the same way, then plug into a nearby grounded GFCI outlet to heat your water, warm your seat, and power the warm-air dryer.

Most models install in under 10 minutes on a standard toilet, with everything you need in the box.

What is a smart toilet?

A smart toilet does more than flush. It washes you, dries you, keeps its own bowl clean, and hands off the stuff you used to do by hand, like lifting the lid or hitting the flush lever. TUSHY's smart toilet is Eau by TUSHY: a full standalone toilet with a built-in bidet, auto-open lid, kick-to-flush pedal, and an auto-foaming bowl cleanser called Cloud Spray.

TUSHY's electric bidet seats (Ace, Cloud, Cloud+, and Aura) give you the same smart features, heated seat, remote or side-panel controls, warm water wash, derri-air dryer, without tearing out your toilet. Attach the seat to what you've already got, plug into a nearby grounded outlet, and your bathroom just got an upgrade minus the plumber.

Does TUSHY spray warm or cold water?

Depends on the model, and both feel great. Here's the quick map:

Cool or room-temperature wash: The TUSHY Classic, our most popular attachment, and the TUSHY Wave, our most popular seat, connect straight to your toilet's water supply. The spray is whatever temperature your tap water is. If you're worried it'll be too cold, don't be. A cool spray on a warm post-poo bottom is more refreshing than it sounds, think of it like a cold glass of water on a hot day. The TUSHY Handheld Bidet Sprayer works the same way, connecting to your toilet's water supply for a cool, tap-temperature rinse whenever you need it.

Warm wash, non-electric: The TUSHY Spa and TUSHY Oasis work the same way, plus an extra hose that connects to your sink's hot water supply for warm water on demand through a temperature dial. Works best if your sink is within about 6 feet of your toilet. The included hose is slim enough to run under a cabinet door or through a small hole in your vanity.

Warm wash, electric: Our electric seats, the TUSHY Ace, Cloud, Cloud+, and Aura, heat water instantly for a warm wash any time, with the option to cool it down if you prefer. The Eau Smart Toilet does the same as a complete toilet: it connects to your cold water line and heats the water instantly, adjustable across 6 temperature settings, no sink hookup or separate seat needed. All of these need a grounded 3-prong GFCI outlet within 3 feet of your toilet.

One thing worth knowing before you buy: if you're choosing between a seat and an attachment, bowl shape matters for seats. Attachments fit most standard round and elongated bowls. Seats are model-specific, so check the product page or take our Compatibility Quiz if you're unsure.

Where does the warm water come from?

Depends on your model. The TUSHY Spa and TUSHY Oasis connect to the water valve behind your toilet and to your sink's warm water hookup. If your toilet is within about 6 feet of your sink, you get both cool and warm water, no outlet or electricity needed.

Prefer warm water on demand without relying on your sink? Our electric bidets, the TUSHY Ace, Cloud, Cloud+, and Aura, heat the water instantly. The Eau Smart Toilet does the same as a complete toilet, connecting to your cold water line and heating it internally, so there's no sink hookup or separate seat needed. All of these plug into a grounded 3-prong GFCI outlet within 3 feet of your toilet.

How do electric bidets heat the water?

All four of TUSHY's electric bidet seats deliver warm water. How they get there differs, and it's worth knowing.

TUSHY Ace
The Ace has a water tank built into the base. While the bidet is idle, the tank fills, and a set of heated coils keeps the water warm. During use, the water from the tank is used up first. For most people, there's more than enough warm water for a full wash. If the spray runs unusually long past that point, water flows straight through to the nozzle without time to heat up — but that's not something most users ever run into.

When the bidet is idle, the tank refills and reheats automatically, so it's always ready for the next use.

Aura by TUSHY, Cloud by TUSHY & Cloud+ by TUSHY
These three models work differently. Instead of storing warm water, they heat it on demand as it flows through a small ceramic heating element. The element is about the size of a pinky finger, and because so little water passes through it at once, it can heat up fast enough to keep pace with the flow.

One more thing worth knowing before you choose: the Ace is round only, while the Aura, Cloud, and Cloud+ are elongated only. Check your toilet shape before ordering.

Which TUSHY should I buy?

We worked our butts off to build a bidet for every budget and every kind of toilet. As a rule of thumb: our non-electric attachments are the most budget-friendly way in, the non-electric seats step up from there, and the electric seats and the Eau Smart Toilet sit at the premium end. Here's the tour, entry-level to full luxury:

Start with our non-electric attachments, which sit under your existing seat with no electricity or plumbing. The TUSHY Classic is our best-selling attachment and the most affordable way in, a cool, refreshing wash. The TUSHY Spa adds warm water by connecting to your sink's hot line. The TUSHY Fresh adds a dedicated feminine wash, with a dual-nozzle option. And the TUSHY Handheld Bidet Sprayer is a manual sprayer you aim yourself, handy for cleaning well beyond your bum.

Want a sleeker seat that swaps in for your current one? The TUSHY Wave is our most popular non-electric seat with a cool wash, and the TUSHY Oasis adds warm water for those who like it toasty.

Ready for the cream of the plop? Our electric seats, the TUSHY Ace, Cloud, Cloud+, and Aura, bring heated seats, on-demand warm water, customizable washes, and warm-air dryers. Each one builds on the last for a fancier throne.

At the very top sits the Eau Smart Toilet, the whole throne reimagined. It's a complete toilet with warm-water washing built right in, so there's no separate seat or sink hookup needed. The full luxury experience, start to finish.

For current pricing and to find your perfect match, shop the full lineup or take our Compatibility Quiz.

Not sure which TUSHY is right for you?

Take our 30-second compatibility quiz and we'll match you to the right bidet based on your toilet, your bathroom setup, and how fancy you want your butt-washing experience to be. No guessing, no regret-buying the wrong one.

Can I attach and remove TUSHY easily? What if I move?

Yep! Removal and reinstallation is simple and can usually be done in under 10 minutes—just like the initial install. (Not bad when you consider we spend an average of 3 years of our lives on the toilet.)

If you have a bidet seat—like the Wave, Oasis, Aura, Cloud, Cloud+, or Ace—keep in mind that seat-to-toilet fit depends on the bowl shape. If your new home has a different shaped toilet (round vs. elongated), your seat may not pair well.

How do I clean my TUSHY? Doesn't the nozzle get gross?

Cleaner than you'd think. On every TUSHY, the nozzle stays tucked in its own housing and only comes out when you're using it, and it rinses itself around each wash. Non-electric models add a hands-free Nozzle Wash, and the electric seats and Eau Smart Toilet run an automatic self-clean cycle.

Day to day, wipe your TUSHY down about as often as you clean your toilet, using a mild, pH-neutral cleaner like Simple Green or Dr. Bronner's. Skip bleach and harsh chemicals, which can damage the hoses.

For cleaning steps specific to your model, check your product manual or our Support Center. We have your back(side).

Do you have to wipe after using a bidet?

Nope! That dewy booty is sparkling clean from a pressurized stream of fresh water. Simply pat dry with a few squares of regenerative bamboo toilet paper, you doo you. Washing with a bidet gets you two times cleaner than TP without the need to furiously wipe your sensitive booty skin.

For the ultimate luxury, our electric bidets—TUSHY Ace, Aura by TUSHY, Cloud by TUSHY, and Cloud+ by TUSHY—all feature a warm-air dryer to dry that derrière, hands-free.

What makes TUSHY different from other bidet brands?

Ease: Our non-electric bidets install in under 10 minutes, no outlet or extra plumbing needed. Our electric bidets (Ace, Cloud, Cloud+, and Aura) install quickly too and add heated seats, warm-air dryers, and customizable washes. Want the whole throne upgraded? The Eau Smart Toilet is our standalone option, a complete toilet with warm-water washing built right in, no separate seat or sink hookup needed. Our attachments and seats all have a self-cleaning nozzle that retracts when not in use.

A Fit for Every Throne: Round or elongated, standard or skirted, even the toilet in your RV or boat, we make a model that fits the vast majority of bathrooms. And the TUSHY Handheld Bidet Sprayer is our take on the sprayer much of the world already uses every day, known as a bum gun across much of Asia and a shattaf across the Middle East. It attaches to nearly any toilet's water supply, so whatever your setup, there's a TUSHY for it.

Beauty: Each one is beautifully minimal and sleek. No clumsy medical vibes here. Did we mention there's a pink one?

Support: TUSHY spoils your butt with obsessive, world-class Poo-Ru support, including a 30-day return policy and a 12-month warranty on equipment and parts.

Setup & Installation

Will TUSHY fit my toilet?

TUSHY bidets fit most standard toilets with both elongated and round bowls, but there are a few exceptions, like French curve toilets.

If you're considering a bidet seat—Wave, Oasis, Ace, Cloud, Cloud+, or Aura—bowl shape matters. Seats are designed for either round or elongated bowls, so you'll want to know which you have before ordering. Not sure? Check our bowl shape guide.

The easiest way to know for sure? Take our quick Toilet Compatibility Quiz and get your answer in under a minute.

How do I install a TUSHY bidet attachment or seat?

Step aside plumbers, the only butt crack needed around here is yours. Whether it's an attachment or a seat, electric or not, most TUSHYs install in under 10 minutes. The basics:

  1. Shut off your water supply and flush to empty the tank.
  2. Remove your toilet seat and give the area a deep clean.
  3. Attach the bidet to your water supply and toilet using the included connections.
  4. If it's an electric seat, plug into a grounded 3-prong GFCI outlet within 3 feet of your toilet.
  5. If it's an attachment, reinstall your toilet seat. If it's a bidet seat, you can donate your old seat.

Want the full walkthrough? Our Support Center has video tutorials for every model, and the step-by-step install guide covers the TL;DR. Get stuck at any point and our 5-star support team is there to help.

What's in the box?

Everything you need for a standard North American installation is in there, no extra trip to the hardware store required. You'll just need a few things you probably already own: a flathead screwdriver, a Phillips head screwdriver, and a towel or two for any drips during install.

Check the product page for the full parts list if you want the play-by-play before it arrives.

I'm renting. Can I install a TUSHY without damaging anything?

Yes. TUSHY attachments and seats install with zero permanent changes, no drilling, no plumber, no awkward conversation with your landlord. The bidet mounts using your toilet's existing seat bolt holes, and the water connection threads onto fittings your toilet already has. Nothing gets cut, glued, or modified.

It's fully reversible, too. When you move out, unscrew the adapter, reconnect the original hose, put your old seat back on, and the toilet looks like you were never there. The whole undo takes a few minutes.

Two small notes: warm water models connect to your sink's supply line, so you may want to route the hose through your sink cabinet for a cleaner look. And if your electric seat comes with a remote, wall-mounting the holder is optional, and we include adhesive tape to avoid drilling.

We have your back(side), and your security deposit.

Does a bidet require an outlet?

Our electric bidets, the TUSHY Ace, Cloud, Cloud+, Aura, and Eau Smart Toilet, need a grounded 3-prong GFCI outlet within 3 feet of your toilet.

Our non-electric models, the TUSHY Classic, TUSHY Fresh, TUSHY Spa, TUSHY Wave, TUSHY Oasis, TUSHY Handheld Bidet Sprayer, and TUSHY Travel, run on water pressure only. No outlet needed.

Can TUSHY be installed on toilets outside of the U.S. and Canada?

Yes. TUSHY installs on standard toilets in most countries without a problem. Depending on your local plumbing, you may need a different size adapter than the one made for American fittings.

Already have a TUSHY and need a hand installing it abroad? Reach out and we'll help you track down the right adapter.

Is there a lefty TUSHY?

Our newest bidet seats TUSHY Wave and TUSHY Oasis are the perfect match for small spaces, and while the pressure knob is on the right hand side there's not an extended control panel extending out to worry about.

If you’re after a premium clean, our electric bidet seats—TUSHY Ace, Aura by TUSHY, and Cloud+ by TUSHY—all have sleek, easy-to-use remotes that rest on their own magnetic mounting docks. You can place the dock anywhere—left, right, or wherever feels most natural—making them completely ambidextrous.

Prefer something hands-on? TUSHY Handheld Bidet Sprayer is a manual sprayer you hold and aim yourself, so it's built to work equally well in either hand. Same goes for TUSHY Travel, our portable bidet.

Are TUSHY bidets ASME and CSA certified?

TUSHY Classic and TUSHY Spa are both American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certified. Essentially, that means that they are compliant with commercial and residential plumbing standards.

Head to our Spare Parts page to browse adapters, knobs, nozzles, hoses, lids, remotes, and more. If the part you need isn't listed there, chat with a helpful Poo-Ru, and we'll help track it down.

Health & Hygiene

What's the problem with toilet paper?

Where to start? Toilet paper never fully cleans, so it leaves residue (call it residoodoo) behind. That lingering mess is linked to more UTIs, yeast infections, and irritation, and all the dry, repetitive scrubbing sets the stage for hemorrhoids and the tiny tears known as anal fissures. Bidet users report fewer of all of it.

Then there's the planet. Toilet paper production drives about 15% of global deforestation, flushing nearly 10 million trees a year, and the pulp gets bleached with chemicals that end up in our water.

TP TL;DR: rough on your body, rough on the earth. Water is gentler on both. See all the benefits of switching.

TUSHY and your health

We're not doctors, and TUSHY isn't a medical treatment. But a lot of customers come to us because of something specific going on with their body, and we hear about it constantly. Here's what our customers say, and what the research says where there is any.

Hemorrhoids. Wiping with dry paper can be rough on already-irritated skin. Our customers say a rinse helps: in an AYTM survey of TUSHY customers, over half reported finding relief from hemorrhoids, and 57% reported fewer flare-ups after switching to TUSHY. If you're dealing with pain, bleeding, or symptoms that don't improve, talk to your doctor.

Sensitive skin and irritation. This is where the water-over-paper logic holds up best. Our customers say it plainly: 91% feel less irritation thanks to a soothing rinse, 91% say their skin is happier without wipe friction, and 9 out of 10 say TUSHY soothes itching. The Classic 3.0 also has adjustable water pressure built in specifically for sensitive skin. If you have a diagnosed skin condition, check with your dermatologist first.

UTIs. Our customers say switching helps here too: 1 in 3 TUSHY fans report fewer UTIs after making the switch. This is self-reported, not a clinical finding, and UTIs have a lot of contributing causes, so it's not a substitute for medical care if you're dealing with recurring infections.

IBS, Crohn's, and digestive comfort. We don't have customer data specific to IBS or Crohn's, but we do have real research on posture and bowel movements from the TUSHY Ottoman and Arc toilet stools: a squatting position is linked to 30% faster bowel movements, up to 90% less straining, 75% more complete evacuation, and a 40% reduction in constipation, per published studies (linked below). Everyone's condition is different, so talk to your gastroenterologist about what's right for you.

If posture is only part of the equation, Reboot Fiber Gummies are the other piece: a prebiotic fiber formula built to support healthy gut bacteria and step one toward a better bathroom routine, no mixing, water, or chalky powder required. They're non-GMO and vegan-friendly, and may support healthy bowel regularity and occasional bloating relief. "May" is the operative word here. These are general wellness claims, not treatment for a diagnosed condition, so if you're managing IBS, Crohn's, or already take a fiber supplement, check with your doctor before adding another one to your routine.

Limited mobility. Reaching to wipe thoroughly gets harder with age, injury, or mobility limitations. The Wave and Oasis bidet seats were built with this in mind: an EasyTurn knob and ergonomic controls designed for limited mobility. If you have specific accessibility needs, reach out and we'll help you find the right setup.

Postpartum recovery. Many new parents can't wipe normally for a while, and a gentle rinse is a common alternative during recovery. We don't have TUSHY-specific customer data on postpartum use yet, so always follow your OB or midwife's aftercare instructions first. Nothing here overrides their guidance.

None of this replaces medical care. If you have a health condition, your doctor or specialist is the right person to ask what's best for you.

How are bidets better than wet wipes?

In the current wiping climate, wipes of all kinds are easy to use and overly accessible. Yet what the wipe manufacturers don't want you to know is that chronic use leads to significant skin breakdown and increased sensitivity, irritation, cracking and fissures which also can provoke an occurrence of anal condyloma (aka anal warts) in HPV positive individuals. Most people use these wipes, pull up their Calvins and move on to their next task, but the moisture that is left behind is a Petri dish for colonization of bacteria responsible for these outbreaks. Wipes also have an incredibly detrimental effect on both the environment and plumbing systems, giving you another reason to bidet your behind.

Can I clean more than just my butt with TUSHY?

Oh, so much more. TUSHY is as much a vag spa as it is a butt blaster. It's great for staying fresh during your period and for washing up before and after sex. Sup, spring flower?

Now you're probably thinking, "Wait, is this thing spraying poop water from my butt up toward my vagina?" Fair question. Water is the most effective way to clean off down there, and it can even help prevent UTIs, which is a big reason bidets are the preferred cleaning method around the world. Think of it like rinsing your backside in the shower.

Our super smart doctor friend John Cluley, M.D. puts it this way: "any trivial amount of bacteria the urethra is exposed to as a result of using a bidet is far outweighed by the improved hygiene you have by using the bidet in the first place." In other words, washing with water is the only way to shoo that poo.

Are bidets good for... you know... butt stuff?

Our super smart doctor friend Evan Goldstein D.O. at Bespoke Surgical says that "Bidets are perfect for achieving overall cleanliness both pre-and post-intercourse. Efficiency and convenience is everything in our world and having a simple tool that can provide a thorough washing is vital. While douching techniques can be incorporated with the bidet, it's mostly used for external cleansing - perfect for preparing for appropriate oral play in the anal region. Post-intercourse, the bidet is the perfect tool for deep cleansing and hygiene, and flushing a potential deposit if need be!"

Shipping, Returns, Warranty

How long does it take to ship my bidet?

It may take a few days for tracking to show movement, depending on the carrier and delays they are experiencing. We are not responsible for any delays with carrier transit times.

**If an order has been marked "delivered" by the carrier, but you believe it to be lost or stolen, please reach out if it has not been received within 14 days of the ship date within the contiguous US and 21 days for other locales further afar. • Once your return is received and inspected (typically within 7–10 business days), we’ll issue your credit.
• A return processing fee equivalent to estimated shipping costs will be deducted from your credit for both returns and exchanges.
• Store credit is valid for 5 years from date of issue.

What is Extend Shipping Protection?
We’ve partnered with Extend to offer Shipping Protection – coverage for lost, stolen, or damaged packages. If something goes wrong during shipping, Extend makes it easy to file a claim and get resolution. Most often, Extend will send you a debit card for the value of your item(s), including shipping and taxes, so you can quickly get a replacement.

For full coverage details, click here.

If you purchased Shipping Protection and need to file a claim, you can do so here.

I didn’t purchase Extend Shipping Protection. What should I do if my package is lost, stolen or damaged?

We can directly assist when your order has Extend Shipping Protection or when there’s a carrier or fulfillment issue. Here’s how it works:

If you purchased Extend:
Please file a claim through the Extend portal here. Extend covers loss, theft, and damage. Our team can’t replace these orders manually while a claim is available.

If you did not purchase Extend:
• Lost in transit (never delivered / tracking stalled):
Tell us and we’ll investigate with the carrier and help track that bidet down! Patience is key here, but if it's stalled for a while we usually can help.

• Damaged on arrival:
Tell us (photos help). We’ll review and make it right.

• Delivered to the wrong address (carrier/warehouse error) or a TUSHY fulfillment mistake:
Tell us. We'll have your back in the face of these issues that you had no control over.

• Marked “Delivered” to the correct address but you can’t find it (possible theft):
Such a bummer when this happens! Ugh! If the tracking shows delivered to the correct address, that means we—and the carrier—made a good-faith effort to get your order to you. Because events after delivery are outside our control, orders without Extend Shipping Protection aren’t eligible for replacement or refund. For future peace of mind, we recommend adding Extend at checkout for theft coverage.

Need help? Submit a request and include all the requested details, including your order number, and photos so we can move fast.

What kind of box is TUSHY delivered in? Is the box discreet?
TUSHY products ship in sustainable, branded packaging—typically without an outer box to reduce waste. While the box says TUSHY, it doesn’t include a receipt or pricing info, so it’s gift-friendly.

Please note: we only accept sealed returns, so only open if you intend to keep it.

Do you offer gift messaging or gift wrapping?
We don't yet offer gift wrapping or gift messaging, so if you are sending a gift to someone be sure to give them a heads up that a life changing delivery is heading their way! And be sure to mention that our Poo-Ru support team can guide them through any facet of bidet use—from installation to enjoyment!
Can I send one order to multiple addresses?
Ordering a butt ton of bidets for your favorite poopers? TUSHY is the gift that keeps on giving, so good on ya! Each TUSHY order can only ship to one mailing address. If you are sending to multiple recipients please check out separately for each unique address, as we are unable to split up orders between multiple addresses.

Your TUSHY comes in a box that is easy to ship if you do decide to send one to a friend yourself!

Does TUSHY have a physical store?
TUSHY is direct-to-consumer first, so our full lineup lives right here on our site. We don't have TUSHY stores (yet), but you can find us in retailers across the US, and that list is growing all the time. Check our Store Locator to see what's near you.
How do I register my warranty?
Registering is quick and it's required to activate your warranty coverage. Scan the QR code included with your TUSHY, or head to the Support Center and use the registration link there.

Do it as soon as you unbox so you're covered from day one.

Do you offer wholesale or bulk ordering?
Yes. We partner with retailers and businesses through Faire. Head to our wholesale page to browse the line and place an order.
